World Affairs

I really don’t like to get caught up in world politics, but here we are. I am based in the United States of America, and Cyberphreak Enterprises LLC is incorporated in Illinois, so I can’t avoid the trade war, so I am caught in this like every other US based company.

I did try to prepare by stocking up on small parts and some of the larger parts. I have complete parts for 7 or 9 controllers, depending on the configuration. As a little inside information, my parts cost is about 45-50% of my sell price, so a 10% tariff will result in about a 5-6% sell price increase. I will make adjustments as parts change price. The existing 10% tariff for Chinese based parts is already baked in, so it looks like I am going to paying 21% tariffs. (10%+10% is a 21% tax, jewelry store math).

For my friends up north in Canada, I am not sure what to do yet. If your Prime Minister retaliates, and I don’t blame him one bit, I don’t know how willing people will be to pay the 25% increase on top of the 6ish percent. What a mess.

We will get through this and I will make sure I am fair and open will all increases and I will not be making an extra penny.

Happy Chinese New Year!

I went through and updated all my stock quantities for my controllers. They are accurate as of January 30, 2025. I had to bump up the price of the dual stick controllers, they is just so much labor involved it was unavoidable.

If I run out of parts between now and February 14, we are all just going to have to wait for everyone to finish celebrating the Year of the Snake and I can order new parts.

Happy 2025

Happy 2025 everyone. It is only the 21st of January and I have already received 8 orders! A big thank you to everyone for making this all possible. I have built and shipped 90 controller so far, with another 4 to ship soon. Starting with John P. on January 9, 2024 till now you all made my dream of starting my own small business possible. Cyberphreak Enterprises LLC is a real thing in the State of Illinois and I am celebrating my first year in business. I am still a one man operation, so patience is always appreciated.

In other news, if these tariffs turn out to be true, price adjustments will be made as I order new parts. I tried to build up an inventory of parts, in case the worst happens. We shall see. Actions like this directly affect small businesses. I hand assemble in the USA, but most of the parts do come from China, if you wanted an all domestically sourced controller, the parts cost alone would be close to $200, if you can even find a supplier. Sorry to get too political, but the importer of goods pays the tariff, not the exporter and there is no way I can absorb the cost without changing prices. My net profit right now is ~12%. I do this more as a hobby than keep the lights on, but still, I need some profit to develop newer controllers.

That leads me to what’s on deck for 2025. I hope to test and release a True 16 way controller for the Intellevision and a crazy controller that will be compatible with Atari 2600, 5200, and the 7800.

Holiday Update/Parts

Working on making a batch of controllers for the 5200. For some reason 4 orders came in 18 hours, so I will be fulfilling in the order received. I have parts on hand for all the orders that have been placed.

I am getting low on parts, but they are arriving soon. As soon as I have all the parts in hand, I will update the inventory. If you see you are ordering a controller on back order, you really are buying a controller on back order until new joysticks and buttons arrive!

Price Reductions!

I have been able to get significant labor out of building my controllers and reduce some parts, so I am passing the reduction off to my loyal customers! Inflation has stabilized (for now) and I don’t like price gouging. There are no orders in the queue right now, so now is a great time to shop! I will be releasing the Vectrex ANDI shortly and the Intellevsion True 16 Arcade stick will be unveiled soon!

Happy Gaming!

Pricing Updates

Been working on building controllers. I had to bump up the price on the ANDI (analog/digital) 5200 controllers. The labor that goes into it is more than I expected. I also adjusted prices on the overlay compatible vs classic controllers, across the board. The overlay controllers requires a bit more labor, a custom 3D printed part, and is harder for me to make consistently, so the new price reflects that. I dropped the price on the dual stick classic.

All new controllers will have an updated look, which includes a stainless steel looking vinyl strip and color badge on the front.

Updated look, as I build up new controllers, I will take photos of each new type. Up next will be the overlay ANDI and ANDI classic.

Updates and upcoming products

Thank you everyone for the steady pace of orders. Sometimes I wish I had more time. My wife is still recovering from breast cancer, so I always put her first. She has “no evidence of disease” but we have to be vigilant.

When time allows, I would like to get my “Intellevision II True 16” prototype built and tested. Thanks Mitchell for the name suggestion, you will get the first production controller. It will be a 16 way controller, arcade stye, overlay compatible, and not require any external power, and it will have wood grain.

In the wings, I also have a 5200 digital only controller ready to go, along with a 7800 arcade controller, but I am waiting to complete my current backlog. Stayed tuned, as I get better at building, expect more great controllers.

Happy Gaming,

I will be taking a vacation from 6/26/2024 until 7/7/2024. Our son’s 18th birthday and graduation parties are here and my wife is completing her radiation therapy for breast cancer. If you place an order, it will be completed in the order received after July 7th.

Thank you all for you well wishes and patronage, have a happy and safe 4th of July!
